Thora Birch

Thora Birch was born March 11 on 1982. She is an American actress, producer and director. Her debut film was Purple People Eater (1988) and was the recipient of the Young Artist Award for "Best Young Artistress Under Nine Years of age". Birch was a child actress who appeared in movies such as All I Want For Christmas (1991), Patriot Games(1992), Hocus Pocus (1993), Monkey Trouble (94), Now and Then (1995) as well as Alaska (1996). The actress received a Young Artist Award for "Best Young Actress under Nine Years of Age." In 1999, Birch played Jane Burnham in American Beauty. This film brought her a BAFTA nomination. The following year, she was a part-time actress in Ghost World (2001) as Enid. She was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. Birch received an Emmy Award for her performance in Homeless To Harvard: The Liz Murray Story in 2003. Birch also starred on Dungeons & Dragons (2000) (2001), The Hole (2004), Silver City (2004), Dark Corners (2006) and Winter of Frozen Dreams (2009). Birch played the role of Whisperer Mary/Gamma in season 10 of The Walking Dead (2019-202). Birch was the eldest child born to Jack Birch (and Carol Connors) in Los Angeles. Birch is German-Jewishwith Scandinavian and French-Canadian ancestry.  The name of her mother, Thora, originates from the Norse god of lightning and thunder "Thor", which would have been her name, had she been a boy. She has a younger brothernamed Kian Bolt Birch.Birch's parents are former adult film actors, both of whom participated in the film Deep Throat. Because of their own experience working in the entertainment industry they were hesitant to support her, but were convinced to show Thora's photograph to agents through a babysitter who observed her mimicking commercials. Birch's first big break came at age four when her babysitter took her along to an audition for the Quaker Oats commercial.
