Don Rickles Biography

 Don Rickles was an American stand-up comedian, author and actor. He was one the most well-respected entertainment talents. He had a mix of humor and quick wit and a sincere love for his audience, that led to him becoming a magnet for laughter, enjoyment, and amusement. The ability of his insults to seem humorous and not offensive made him a regular on celebrity roast circuits. His jokes were usually hurtful and mean but he was able to make the receiver laugh. He began his career in comedy with a variety of prepared jokes. But, he realized that the audience preferred his impromptu insults to traditional material. He was adored by many among them was Frank Sinatra. He appeared in several movies and TV shows. He also recorded two comedy albums. He was awarded numerous awards, including a "Lifetime Achievement" award at The Comedy Awards. Don Rickles was only able to get small TV roles following his graduation. Stand-up comedy was his initial step to make extra money. This is when the comedian developed his 'insult comedy’ persona. He played a key role in Clint Eastwood's 1970 hit movie Kelly's Heroes (1970). He appeared on a variety of television comedy shows such as The Dean Martin Roasts' (1973) or The Don Rickles Program' (1972). Barbara Sklar was Don Rickles his wife on the 14th of March in 1965. They had two children: Mindy and Larry. Their son, Larry, died in the year 2011. His best friend was Bob Newhart and the two often went on vacation together with their wives. They were often seen together on various shows, like 'Newhart.' Don Rickles, who passed away on April 6, 2017 due to kidney failure, died in his Beverly Hills, California home.
